Foam’s support factor or «compression modulus»: the hardness at 65% compression (seating pressure) divided by the hardness at 25% (hand pressure) compression.

It provides an indication of how supportive the foam will be in use. Support factors range from about 1.5 to 3.5. The higher the number is, the greater the foam’s ability to provide support. A good supportive foam distributes better the weight of the patient.

POLYETHER foams reach a max of 2, while High Resiliency foams reach between 2 and 3.5.
